PIER
Dear parents of Educando a América:
We want to introduce our Grupo PIER, from Argentina. Grupo PIER is integrated by a group of friends who have traveled all around the country , learning about the different needs and financial issues of people from our Country. Today we are dedicated to help the province of Catamarca.
In 2007, we began to work with a plan that could assist to resolve the problem of access to EDUCATION.
Since then, we have been working to PROMOTE AND FACILITATE EDUCATION, offering the necessary tools to encourage FORMAL EDUCATION and PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT for students of low income families.
The Esquiú School of Buenos Aires along with parents and students from the school support us through their involvement at Family Sport Days, ceremonies at school, organization of charity fairs, and collection of books and school supplies.
In 2008, thanks to the support of our communnity, we were able to offer grants to 7 students. In 2009 we reached up to 15 students, offering them support from a social worker who follows each student and its scholarship case by case. The student academic progress is detailed monthly.
Furthermore, we installed a Computing Room that is already running. We have also won awards from different Foundations like “Fundación La Nación” (an important newspaper from Argentina) and “Fundación HSBC”. These awards allowed us to distribute 13 heating systems to different schools and 70 jackets to students from the area of the “Ambato Department” in Catamarca.
We have experienced a significant growth during these past 2 years because of the constant solidarity of more than 50 families. Now, a better future for these children is possible.
